Hey there, welcome to my site! My name’s Mike Petry and this is my site Cinnamon and Spice Cafe.

My goal is to bring you all things kitchen related for the gourmet home chef, so feel free to take a look around.

My passion for cooking goes way back to when I was a kid. I enjoy cooking gourmet meals with simple ingredients for my friends and family as often as possible.

Mike, Cinnamon and Spice Cafe

I’m a big believer that a meal doesn’t have to be complicated to taste great. In fact I love cooking with vintage kitchenware such as cast iron. I have a big collection of cast iron pans that I use on a daily basis. Pans of all sizes, dutch ovens, cast iron waffle makers, griddles and more.

Some of my pans date back to the 1930s and are quite desired by cast iron collectors. I love the fact they are basically indestructible and are easy to take care of. If your pan is seasoned properly, you simply just need to wipe it out with a paper towel, which makes it the perfect camping accessory as well.

When I’m not cooking at home, I cook for my wife and our two boys on our frequent camping trips. Their favourite is bacon, eggs and pancakes over the fire.

Some of my favorite memories are cooking over the fire with the family and seeing the smiles on their faces as they enjoy some delicious food.

We try to get out camping as much as possible and even have our own camp kitchen packed up in a tote, ready to go, so we can leave at any moment! Of course no camp kitchen would be complete without a french press for that perfect cup of coffee.

My wife really enjoys cooking as well, and as our boys have gotten older they’ve gotten them more into fishing on our trips as well. So far they really like it, and get really excited when we bring our catch back to the campsite for my wife, Melissa, to cook it up for us.

Our family is so passionate about cooking that we even named our home kitchen the Cinnamon and Spice Cafe.

Instead of going out for Sunday morning breakfast, we just stay in to eat at our “cafe”. We usually do cast iron buttermilk waffles, or french toast on the weekends and are basically in a food coma the rest of the day, but it’s totally worth it to hang with the family, watch some football and spend some quality time together.

I hope you find something special on my site to add to your own home or camp kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mike
